Jen Minor currently enjoys coaching and mentoring hard working school leaders in the Deer Valley Unified School District, helping increase their effectiveness through leveraging the effectiveness and collective responsibility of Professional Learning Communities.
Jen Minor
Jen Minor currently serves as the manager of administrative leadership and services in the Deer Valley Unified School District. Jen currently supervises elementary and middle school principals in DVUSD which consists of 40 schools, 32,000 students, and 3,894 staff members. In May 2021, DVUSD was named a Model PLC District. With over 25 years of experience as an educator, Jen has served in a variety of capacities including principal supervisor, principal, assistant principal, and teacher. For the past five years, Jen has enjoyed coaching and mentoring hard working school leaders and helping them implement and lead effective PLCs.
Jen also serves as an academic associate at Arizona State University in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College Division of Educational Leadership. Jen believes that building a supportive and collaborative culture using the PLC process is the single most important thing an organization must do to help students reach high levels of learning.
Serving in the capacity of principal for 12 years, Jen guided her school to achieve in the top one percent of all schools in Arizona, which qualified them to be distinguished as an NCEA Higher Performing School. Her school was also recognized by the Arizona Education Foundation as an A+ School of Excellence award winner and named an AZ STEM School Community of Practice. Jen was recognized by the Arizona Gifted and Talented Association when she was named Gifted Administrator of the Year in 2012. Jen has served as a principal mentor for Arizona’s Principal Leadership Academy and as an AdvancED external review team lead evaluator for PreK-12 schools applying for national school accreditation.
Jen graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Minnesota State University in Mankato. She received a master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University.
