Dr. Oliver Grenham is a visionary and forward-thinking educational leader dedicated to unlocking the full potential of both people and systems. With more than 40 years of experience in education, he has served in a wide range of roles—from classroom teacher and principal to director, executive director, and chief education officer—bringing transformational leadership to every level of the system.
Widely recognized for his work in competency-based education, he has shared insights on its challenges and successes at prominent conferences, symposia, and seminars, advocating for educational systems that better prepare students for a dynamic and diverse future. As the chief architect of a groundbreaking personalized, competency-based preK–12 system at Westminster Public Schools in Colorado, Dr. Grenham led a district-wide transformation of educational policy and practice. His learner-centered model empowers students to progress at a purposeful pace based on demonstrated performance, fostering ownership and engagement in their learning.
In July 2023, Dr. Grenham received the Colbert Cushing Award, presented by the Colorado Association of School Executives, which honors individuals for outstanding professional contributions and exceptional service to the field of education. He was also named one of the Top 100 Visionaries in Education by the Global Forum for Education and Learning in June 2021, an internationally recognized organization uniting educators, innovators, and thought leaders to address complex educational challenges worldwide.
Dr. Grenham earned his bachelor of science degree and higher diploma in education from the University of Galway, Ireland. He also holds a specialist degree in educational leadership and administration and a master’s degree in instructional technology from the University of Colorado Denver, as well as a doctorate in educational leadership from NOVA Southeastern University, Florida.
